Youth Incentive Program
The Lakeshore Youth Program developed the Youth Incentive Program to give the youth a goal or target throughout the year. We hoped by having this program our youth bowlers would listen to what the coaches and volunteers were saying. We want the youth bowlers to improve and their own pace and comfortability.
10% Incentive
This program is based on improvement. We split the league up into segments. The first segment is used to establish the youth bowlers high gane and series. We then multiply the game and series by.10 and add that to the high game and series to set the goal for the next segment. If the youth bowler beats either the high game and/or series they receive a treat at the end of the segment. The youth bowlers who accomplish the goal have the game and/or series reset for the next segment. The rest of the youth bowlers continue trying to acheive their original goal. The current schedule for 2008-2009 has 24 weeks of bowling that will be broken up into 4 six week segments. In 2007-2008 we awarded treats 16 times.
Perfect Attendance
To become a better at doing anything, its doing it over and over again. This also applies to bowling. This is why we instituted the "Perfect Attendance" award. The 13 receipents of the 2007-2008 awards were treated to a movie plus some snacks from the concession stand. The award for 2008-2009 maybe different. "Perfect Attendance" is in quotes to show that it is relative and upto the judgement of the League Supervisor. Here are some examples of excused absences from 2007-2008; 1) The youth is participating in a school or other educational activities. 2) The youth bowlers' family structure makes it impossible to attend each week however, it is expected they be there when they can, 3) The youth is bowling in an event somewhere else and 4) The youth bowler missed bowling because they were out of the country.
